Jerry Gray Pope

Jerry Gray Pope, 83, of Mooresville, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House.

Jerry was born on December 20, 1939, in Iredell County, NC to the late Carlie B. and Nellie Younger Pope. He worked in the J.C. Penney Warehouse for over forty years and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Mooresville. Jerry loved fishing, his horses and mountain bike riding.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Greg “Snake” Pope, son-in-law, Tim Ashe and brother-in-law, Jim Sherrill.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of thirty-nine years, Millie Miller Pope, daughter, Kecia Pope Ashe, stepdaughter, Donna Lovill (Johnny), stepson, Steven Dagenhart (Lisa), daughter-in-law, Debbie Pope, sister, Jeannie Pope Sherrill, brother, Bill Pope (Betty), many grandchildren, great grandchildren (especially Rope Wilder Ashe), nieces, nephews, and special friends that are like family.

A visitation will be held Sunday, February 5, 1:30 to 2:30 pm at Trinity Baptist Church of Mooresville. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm with burial after at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, Dr. Mark Harris and Rev. Steven Pope will be officiating.
