Jerry Wayne “Hot Dog” Moorefield,75, of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House.

Jerry was born on April 14, 1949, in Iredell County to the late Robert Hunter Moorefield and Mary Ethel Tolbert. He was a graduate of North Iredell High School and a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Harmony. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting and restoring old cars and trucks.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Wayne Moorefield, sister, Rachel Mabe, brother, Harold Moorefield.

Those left to cherish Jerry’s memory include his daughter, Heather Givens (Jay), granddaughters, Alyssa Griffin, Hannah Moorefield, Hanna Givens and grandsons, Nick and Breaden Givens Also surviving is his sister, Barbara Graves (Ralph), brothers, Ralph Moorefield (Phyllis), John Moorefield (Mary), sister-in-law, Joanne Moorefield, special friends, Jerry Knox and Roy Campbell and well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will visit with friends prior to the service on Saturday, June 22, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Friendship Baptist Church of Harmony. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm with Pastor Charles Russell and Rev. John Whalen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County or to Friendship Baptist Church.
