Jerry Carl Honeycutt

Jerry Carl Honeycutt, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 17th, 2026, surrounded by the many he loved and who dearly loved him.

A native of Iredell County, Jerry served in the United States Air Force after graduating from Troutman High School. He worked at Troutman Industries until their closing and spent many years after as an independent contractor for other local manufacturers.

Jerry enjoyed golfing and, especially in his later years, watching the wildlife that visited from the woods surrounding the yard he enjoyed maintaining.

Jerry married Shelby Jean Collins on September 7th, 1958, celebrating their 68th anniversary just over one month ago.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by sons Barry Honeycutt (Tara) and Kevin Honeycutt (Misty); daughter Carla Gray (Van); granddaughters Kendall Evernham (Scotty), Elizabeth Kleopoulous (George), grandsons Joe Hart (Bailey), Tyler Palmer, and Will Palmer; great grandchildren Harper and Colby Evernham, Roman Kleopolous, and Gwen Hart; brother Scott Honeycutt and special friend Wanda Bost, special nieces and nephew Susan Campbell, Kathy Young, and Kenny Bradburn, as well as many special friends and neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otha Tilman Honeycutt and Essie Smith Honeycutt, as well as grandsons Jason Honeycutt and Harrison Gray.

The family will celebrate Jerry’s life in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Carolina Caring Foundation, 3975 Foundation Road, Newton, NC 28658.
