Jerry Franklin Goodman

June 30, 1937 - March 20, 2011

Jerry Franklin Goodman, 73, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Iredell County on June 30, 1937 to the late Ira Onas and Belle Lippard Goodman. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and attended Iredell County Schools. He was a trackhoe operator in the construction of our Interstate highways. Jerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being with his family and will truly be missed. He is survived by his wife, Janice Gryder Goodman, of the home; a son, Todd Goodman (Karen) of Statesville; two daughters, Donna Goodman of Statesville and Michele G. Joines of Raleigh; a brother, Bud P. Goodman (Glenda) of Statesville; five grandchildren, Nikki and Justin Davidson and Gary Goodman of Statesville, Jarrett Joines of Raleigh, and Cody Davidson of California; and two great grandchildren, Zoe Haneline of Statesville and Layla Davidson of California. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty G. Perkins and a grandson, Daniel Goodman. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Troutman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesville with the Rev. Dr. Paul Childers officiating.
