Jeannette Plyler

Mrs. Jeannette Glass Plyler, 83, of Statesville, passed away surrounded by her family, Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at the Gordon Hospice House.

Jeannette was born October 7, 1940 in Reidsville, NC and was the daughter of the late Sidney and Thelma Freeman Glass. She was a graduate of Duke University and on April 3, 1964 she married the late Paul Joe Plyler, who passed away April 25, 2009. Together they were members of Broad Street United Methodist Church, where in her earlier years she was the Director of Christian Education and sang in the choir. She was very active in the Statesville community serving on many boards and committees and also taught painting classes at her home.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Leroy Charles Plyler in 2023.

She is survived by one son, Jay Brooks Plyler (Patricia) of Statesville, one daughter, Wendy Plyler VanHoy (John) of Cornelius; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jamie Plyler, John Michael VanHoy, Sarah VanHoy and Olivia Jones.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Troutman Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shuman officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00am before the service at Troutman Funeral Home.
