Oct. 7, 1928 - Apr. 17, 2016
Mrs. Frances Jean Pharr, 87, of Statesville passed away at her home on Sunday, April 17, 2016 after a period of declining health.
She was born on October 7, 1928 to the late Ney and Anne Howard Sherrill.
Jean was a graduate of Troutman High School and, in 1950, married the late Halton Clay "Cap" Pharr who preceded her in death in 1993.
She was a member of Troutman First United Methodist Church and was a retired seamstress having worked for several apparel manufacturers during her career. She especially enjoyed the outdoors working in her garden and flower beds and loved animals. In her later years, she got much enjoyment watching the "old westerns" on TV.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Moore, and son, Tim (Debby) Pharr, all of Statesville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Lynn, Frank and Joe Sherrill; and sisters, Nell Neill, Ruby Deaton and Helen Neel.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Troutman First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Carr officiating. A private burial will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Troutman.
The family would like to send a special "thank you" to Jean’s caregivers, Judy Ball, Amy Beck and Betty Smythe, for all their loving help and support.
If so desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
