Janice "Jan" Ruth (Johnson) Swicegood

Janice Ruth Johnson Swicegood, 72, of Statesville, passed away, Sunday, July 10, 2022, at her home, after a courageous fight with breast cancer.

Mrs. Swicegood was born in Iredell County, August 12, 1949, the daughter of the late Dwight Johnson and Ruth Lackey Johnson.  Jan graduated from Hiddenite High School, and on April 9, 1971, married her beloved husband and constant companion, Allen Swicegood.  She was a homemaker and attended Hebron Baptist Church.  She dearly loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and vacationing at the beach with friends and family.  Christmas was Jan’s favorite time of the year, in warmer weather she enjoyed gardening and being outdoors with family.  Animals always had a special place in her heart, especially her “grand-dogs”.

In addition to her husband those left to cherish Jan’s memory are her daughters; Shelley Daniels (Eric) and Hollie Davis (Shane), her grandchildren (who will miss their number one fan at their sporting events); Kensley Daniels, Adalyn Daniels, Ansley Daniels, Lucas Davis, Lexie Davis, her brother, Ray Johnson (Phyllis), her sisters Wanda Reese (Coy) and Nelda Tallman (Clay), and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Jan Swicegood will be conducted, Friday, July 15, 2022, at 12:00 noon, Hebron Baptist Church, with Rev. Darren Johnson, Rev. Roger Holland, and Rev. Dale Ellis officiating.  The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service, at 11:00 am.
