James "Jim" "Pop" Ray Frederick

James “Jim” “Pop” Ray Frederick, 78, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Jim was born July 22, 1947, in Hamilton, Alabama, to the late Alvin and Dola Sullins Frederick. He was a graduate of Sand Creek High School in Sand Creek, Michigan and Cleary University, and he was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and he worked in sales for Kewaunee Scientific Corporation for 44 years.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughters, Julia Frederick Kowalski and Stephanie Rector Brooks; siblings, Charles Frederick (Betty) and Jack Frederick (Sharon) and brothers-in-law, Mitch Knierim and Robert Craig.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 30 years, Jane Creedmore Frederick; children, Denise Diedering (Lonnie), Howard Frederick (Leigh), Stephen Rector (Mandy), and Christy Georgeson (Ray); grandchildren, Ryan Diedering, Zack Langley, Nikolas Frederick, Carmen Sigala, Noah Rector, Elijah Rector, Luke Prevette, Adam Prevette, Lexi Forrester, Kipper Georgeson, Jeremy Poole, and Grace Brooks; brother, Harold Frederick (Twila); sisters, Sue Craig, and Carolyn Wyse (Kent); six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his dog and best friend, Izzy.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday. October 1 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Money and Rev. Gervais Hitch officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home.
