James Albert Caskaddon

June 28, 1940 - June 13, 2016 Jesus came and escorted James Albert Caskaddon, age 75, through the Gates of Heaven on Monday, June 13, 2016. A resident of Eufola Road in Statesville, James was born in Iredell County on June 28, 1940 to the late James Quincy and Cleo Bost Caskaddon. On March 27, 1970 he was married to his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Sue Metters Caskaddon. He was retired from AT&T/Bellsouth. He loved working in the garden, doing yard work and making trips to the beach and the mountains in order to enjoy the handiwork of God in all types of natural settings. He had a great love for the Lord and his church where he served as a deacon and a greeter, was on the baptismal committee and made tapes and CDs which he delivered to shut-ins. James served his country in active duty in the US Navy and the Naval Reserve. He attained the rank of Quartermaster 2nd class. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Michael Scott Caskaddon, Linda Michelle Caskaddon Toth (Michael), Jon Sherman Caskaddon, all of Statesville, and James Daniel (Dixie) Caskaddon of Taylorsville; sister, Louise Caskaddon of Statesville; six grandchildren, Andrew and Sasha Toth and Brittany Zganjer, all of Ohio, Raven Caskaddon of Tennessee and Carlee and Cassidy Caskaddon of Taylorsville; and one great-grandchild, Paige Grubb, of Ohio. A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Beulah Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Henry Cook and Rev. Tony Bunton officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites performed by the Iredell Veterans Council. The family will assemble at the home at other times. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, 1851 Old Mountain Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
