James Thomas Barbour

James Thomas Barbour, 85, of Statesville, died Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.

The family of Mr. Barbour will receive friends at 11:00 am, Friday, June 13 at Providence Methodist Church in Statesville, NC. Funeral to immediately follow at 12:00 pm. Pastor David Bradley will be officiating the services. Burial will follow at a later date.

Mr. Barbour was born July 18, 1939, in Wilson, NC, the son of the late James William Barbour and Frances Wilkerson Barbour.

Jimmy served in the U.S. Air Force after graduation from 1957-1959. Mr. Barbour later moved to Charlotte, where he married Mrs. Janice K. Barbour. Jimmy liked to stay active with both playing and coaching softball for both church and Industrial teams. Jimmy also umpired softball games and painted houses on the side. He retired from Concrete Supply after working for 40 years. After moving to Statesville in 2004, he worked at Manheim Statesville for 15 years, where he officially retired.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janice K. Barbour of the home; two daughters, Lisa Galliher (Van) of Statesville, and Nicole Engelbert (Matt) of Bremen, Georgia; six grandchildren, Hunter Galliher (Madison), Haley Halsey (Matt), Gavin Engelbert and Emmie Engelbert; great-granddaughter, Rhys Halsey; two brothers, Mike Barbour and Doug Barbour.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Sox (Sonny).

The family of Mr. Barbour will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
