Jim Arthurs, 79, of Troutman, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
He was born on May 30, 1934, to the late James Marvin and Nellie Wilson Arthurs.
Jim is survived by his sweetheart of nine years, Doris Moose, of Statesville; his son, Chris "Turtle" Arthurs of Troutman, his daughter, Robin Burchette and husband Joe of Troutman; sisters, Polly (Ed) Davis of Mint Hill, Edith (Don) Benson of Troutman, Naomi Riddle of Troutman, Dot Arthurs of Troutman; his brothers, Kenneth Arthurs of Mooresville, and Jerry Arthurs of Troutman; five step-grandchildren, Tanda (Andrew) Ketchem, Nakita Marcum, Chris, Josh and Stephen Burchette; and five step-great-grandchildren, Tatum Lovett, Lillie Ketchem, and Ryan, Joshua, and Jordan Burchette. He is also survived by Doris’ children, Gary (Kathy) Moose of Clairemont, Jamie (Tammy) Moose of Gardner, and Debbie (Steve) Sweeney of St. Louis, MO, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Arthurs, and his brother, Harold Arthurs.
Jim retired from Burlington Industries after 44 years. He enjoyed making jelly, baking bread, cakes, and taking his produce to the Pecan Park and Davidson Farmers Markets. He was known as Big Jim’s Produce. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and Hee Haw.
A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, April 18, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Troutman, from 2:30 - 4 pm followed by a funeral service at 4 pm. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Matthew Emory will officiate.
