James Dennis Abshire

Sept. 29, 1963 - Apr. 17, 2013 James Dennis Abshire, 49, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Hickory on September 29, 1963 to Jimmy and Audrey Anderson Abshire. J.D. owned Lasting Impressions, a paint contracting business, for 20 years. He was a very talented artist who also loved to cook and garden. He earned an Eagle Scout award and was active in church. J.D. graduated from Statesville High School in 1981. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Audrey Abshire; sisters, Sharon Sykes and her husband, Joe, of Troutman and Teresa Reid and her husband, Randy, of Prosperity, SC; nieces and nephews, Lisa Shumake (Chris), Richard Sykes (Veronica), Melanie Reid, Nicholas Shumake, Brooke Sykes and Caylyn Sykes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Troutman Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom McCrae officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
