March 26, 1933 - September 27, 2013 Jack Carter, 80, of Troutman, NC passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Greensboro, NC, on March 26, 1933, to Jasper and Isabelle Rose Carter. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955, playing in the army band. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Guilford College in 1960 and a Masters of Education from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1969. He worked for several years for the Greensboro Public School system as a psychologist and for twenty years as a Personnel Manager for Fieldcrest Mills in Eden, NC. He and his wife then started a successful mail order business selling hand-made fishnet canopies for beds. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and enjoyed other outdoor activities. He is survived by his wife, Elsie, and his son, Paul (Anne Gleason) of Charleston, SC, and one grandson, Sean Carter. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Kellam, and two brothers, Howard Carter and Hubert Carter. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Troutman, on Saturday, October 12, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Dieter Punt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800. Washington, DC, 20004; and to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 225 Morgan Street, Troutman, NC, 28166.
