Iris Ostwalt

April 24, 1929 - Dec. 11, 2014 Iris Magdalene Ostwalt, 85, lifelong resident of Troutman, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Maple Leaf Health Care. She was born on April 24, 1929 to the late Steven and Flossie Prevette St. John. Iris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who especially enjoyed doting on her family. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and will be missed by her many friends and neighbors. Iris treasured time spent talking with others and passing the time. She leaves behind her two loving sons, Tony (Beth) Ostwalt and Robert (Pam) Ostwalt; grandsons, Ethan (Tiffany) Ostwalt of Hickory and Brandon R. (Frank) Scalise-Ostwalt of Charlotte; and great-grandson, Tate A. Ostwalt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert C. Ostwalt; sisters, Addie Hollar, Hazel Smoot and Evie St. John; and brothers, Stoy and Clay St. John. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Troutman Funeral Home with the funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Iredell Memorial Gardens following the service.
