Hester Sue Windsor Stikeleather, 98, of Statesville, passed away peacefully Monday, July 14, 2025, at The Greens at Maple Leaf.
Hester was born July 10, 1927, in Iredell County, to the late Morrison Windsor and Mary Lee Bernard Windsor. She was a graduate of Harmony High School and was married to Brantily David “Doll” Stikeleather, who preceded her in death in 2007. She was a member of Monticello Baptist Church and had previously worked as a waitress at Jones Fish Camp, Western Steer and Prime Restaurant. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed working in her yard and flowers, and she dearly loved her family and her church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Windsor; five brothers, Thomas Windsor, Billy Windsor, Luther Lee Windsor, Gilbert Windsor and Dwight Windsor.
Those left to cherish Hester’s memory are her daughters, Gayle Stikeleather and Alicia Miles; granddaughter, Brook Miles; great-granddaughter, Brianna Hinceman; sister, Diane Windsor; several sisters-in-law and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 17 at Monticello Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Rausch and Rev. Glenn Dancy officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
