Helen Laverne "Maw" Cashion

Helen Laverne “Maw” Cashion, age 98, of Stony Point, NC, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, after a period of declining health and went to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior.

Born in Rowan County, NC, on May 14, 1928, she was the wife of the late Coite “Paw” Cashion and the daughter of the late Lamon and Grace Taylor Hattoway “Granny Grace”. She was a retired seamstress in the textile industry and was of the Presbyterian faith.

Helen enjoyed crafting, making necklaces, flowers, going to yard sales and dearly loved her family. She was known to always be there for her friends, helping them in any way she could. She was truly a caring person.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Deidra, and one brother, Jack Hattoway.

Helen is survived by her son, Richard "Rick" Cashion (Judy aka "Rose"); two grandsons, Steve Cashion and Bill Cashion; one brother, Charles Hattoway (Tina) in California; and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Helen’s wishes, a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Iredell Memorial Gardens. Per Helen’s request, the Rev. Dr. Earl Linderman and her son, Rick Cashion will officiate. The family will be available to speak with friends at Rick and Judy's home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Helen's memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County 2347 Simonton Rd Statesville, NC 28625.

The family would like to give a special “thanks” to her guardian angel, niece Kathy Kennedy and one special friend, Glenda Green.
