Harold Ray Arthurs, 75, of Troutman, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Iredell County on April 5, 1936, the son of the late James Marvin and Nellie Wilson Arthurs. He was married to the former Dorothy Miller on July 30, 1966. He graduated from Troutman High School and Kings Business College and retired from Burlington Industries, as a lab technician, after 44 years of service. Harold was a lifetime member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities and attended as long as his health permitted. He was also a member of the Campbell Masonic Lodge #374 in Troutman and served for three terms as "Master", two terms as "DDGL" and two terms as "DDGM". He was a recipient of the Joseph Montford award and a past patron of Adah Chapter #258. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Martha Malysz of Wake Forest and Beth (Jeremy) O’Brien of Stanley; three sisters, Pauline (Ed) Davis of Mint Hill and Edith (Don) Benson and Naomi Riddle, both of Troutman; three brothers, Jim, Jerry and Kenneth Arthurs, all of Troutman; and six grandchildren, Chris, Andrew, Tiffany and Marissa Malysz and Thomas and Catherine O’Brien. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 1 until 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 579 Weathers Creek Rd, Troutman. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Leo Fair and the Rev. David Reep officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside honors will follow the service in the church cemetery. All area Masons are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Lynn Hostettler Scholarship Fund, c/o Campbell Masonic Lodge #374, 130 E.
