Gilbert Lynn Mitchell

Gilbert Lynn Mitchell, 70, of Troutman, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Mitchell was born on December15, 1951, in McDowell County, West Virginia and was the son of the late Albert Mitchell and Bell Jewell Mitchell. Gilbert worked as a coal miner for many years and later as a mechanic. He loved fishing, working on cars and going to auctions whenever possible.

In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by eight siblings.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of forty-one years, Barbara Geiger Mitchell, son, Brian Mitchell, daughters, Michelle McCrary (Brandon), Gina (Jonathan) Walsh and grandchildren, Tanya (Joel), Dana (Justin), Dillion, Jacob (Gabby), Hunter (Kelli) and Bracken. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Sawyer, Eli, Mila, Asher, Kaisley and Kailand and his four siblings, Doug (Betty) Mitchell, Fran Tucker, Leon Mitchell and Sandy Kelley.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in Mr. Mitchell’s memory are asked to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
