George Robeson

George Lee Robeson, 71, of Statesville, NC, went home to the Lord on February 18, 2025, in Statesville, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 16 at Landmark Church of God in Statesville, NC.

George was born in Lumberton, NC in Robeson County to the late James McKay Robeson III and Rosa Leonell Robeson on December 10, 1953. He attended Statesville High School.

In 2006 George, his daughter Charley, and Tracy Barnes started Eyes Up Photography, which utilized blimps and cameras before the age of drones. They used this technology to film several NASCAR drivers’ homes, among other projects. George also worked with Tracy at Blimp Works and Balloon Works. George was certified in heating and air conditioning. He lived in the Wrightsville Beach area for several years but spent most of his life in the Statesville area.

George’s interests included music, photography, Love Valley, and, later in life, his beloved Landmark Church of God in Statesville, NC. He loved his family, friends, and dogs.

George is survived by his loving life partner, Dana (Kimberly) Smith of Statesville, NC; daughter, Charley Robeson of Pottsville, PA; son, Parker Robeson (Savannah) of Mocksville, NC; sister,  Cheryl Robeson Piggott (Roger) of Normandy, TN; nephews, Derek Robeson of Statesville, NC and Ryan Meade (Sarah) of Mooresville, NC; niece, Brooke Voloskova of Knoxville, TN;  cousins, Daniel Prevatt of Charlotte, NC, Karen Stephenson of Atlantic City, NC, Mack Prevatt  of Portland, OR, and Susan Carpenter of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, and numerous lifelong  friends, including Tommy Cheatham. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his brother, Coy Robeson.

Memorial donations may be made to the George Robeson Memorial Fund by sending checks to The Stars Foundation, 5 Normandy Tullahoma Road, Normandy, TN 37360. Funds will be distributed to orphanages in Uganda.
