George Albert Mazur, Jr.

Mr. George Albert Mazur, Jr., 79, of Statesville, passed away, Friday, December 27, 2019 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Mazur was born May 3, 1940 in Wilmerding, PA and was the son of the late George Albert Mazur, Sr. and Margaret Nesta Mazur. He was a graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School and Slippery Rock University. George was a Chemistry/ Biology Teacher and Men’s Varsity Basketball Coach for 35 years at Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh.

He is survived by his beloved Susan; adoring children, Melinda of Pittsburgh, Michael (Lisa McKinney) of Lansdale, PA, Matthew of Lafayette, IN; George (Lisa) of Pittsburgh along with five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at Troutman Funeral Home. The family will speak with friends following the service.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all friends that loved, supported and helped George over the last couple of years.
