Fred “Freddie” Glenn Cavin, Jr., 82, of Troutman, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at his residence.

Freddie was born in Iredell County on April 8, 1942, to the late Fred Glenn Cavin, Sr. and Hazel Ostwalt Cavin. He attended Troutman Schools and worked as a sewing machine mechanic supervisor for Troutman Shirt.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn Bass Cavin; brother, Jerry Cavin (Diann); daughter, Karen Moody Kasey (Mark); stepsons, Jimmy Moody (Brandy) and Michael Beaver; stepdaughter, Angela Hooper; special nephew, Jeffrey Cavin (Stephanie); niece, Carla Cavin Mills (Brandon); special friends, Pastor David Turner (Donna), Rick Schoenleb (Christina), and Larry Meadows; special sister-in-law, Bessie Mae Mills (Gail); grandchildren, Emily Kasey Austin (David), Ashley Kasey, Caitlin Moody, Adam Moody, and Brady Moody.

There are no formal services planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, or Troutman Fire Department, 125 N. Main Street, Troutman, NC 28166.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Troutman Fire Department, the Iredell County EMS and Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for their kindness and care when taking care of Freddie.
