Florence Martin Fleming Williams

Florence Martin Fleming Williams, 88, formerly of Statesville and living at Life Care Center of Banner Elk, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Charles Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, N. C. Born on January 13, 1922 in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Rose Harrison Martin. She was twice married to Earl Whren Fleming and Thomas Carson Williams, both who preceded her in death in 1982 and 2003, respectively. She was a member of Troutman Baptist Church and had a career as a seamstress and personal tailor. She was also a 1939 graduate of Troutman High School. In addition to her two husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Fleming Lackey; a sister, Pauline Sansbury; and four brothers, Basil, Chester, Berman and David Martin. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Fleming McRacken (Jim) of Statesville; five grandchildren, James A. McRacken (Tina), Mark McRacken, Candice R. McRacken, Joseph Lackey and Lee Lackey (Lisa); and seven great grandchildren, Brianna and Megan McRacken, Drew, Molly and Caroline McRacken, Chloe and Tristan Lackey. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 24 from 3 until 4 p.m. at Troutman Baptist Church. Memorial services celebrating the life of Florence Williams will follow at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Paul Childers and the Rev. Don Ingles officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Troutman HELP Ministries, P. O. Box 151, Troutman, N. C. 28166 or Troutman Baptist Church, P. O. Box 275, Troutman, N. C. 28166.
