Felix Bayne Clarke, 94, of Plantation Estates in Matthews, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at his residence. He was born in St. Mary’s County, MD on August 22, 1917 to the late Joseph Bayne and Evalena Abell Clarke. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country honorably during World War II. He retired as an Insurance Examiner for the U.S. Government. He is survived by his sister, Mary Virginia C. Muzzy of Pensacola, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Wagner Clarke, and his brothers, Edward and Walter Clarke. A memorial service will be held at Plantation Estates in Matthews on Monday, June 25, at 10 a.m. with Chaplain Larry Watts officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service. Following the reception, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in St. Michael’s cemetery in Troutman. The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to his caregivers, Zeeolive Mitchell, Carolyn Brewer, Sarah Curteon, Inez Horne, Ceisha Lee, Takisha Chamneyfield, Tonya Hailey, Shawtina Robinson, Robin Craig, Tracey Bailey and Von Allen for being so dedicated to Felix and never leaving his side for the past five years. Memorials may be made to the caregiver's church, Thompson's Chapel AME Zion, P. O. Box 192, Mineral Springs, NC 28108.
