Fairy Lee Keever Stallings, age 89 of Statesville, NC, passed away at North Carolina State Veterans Home, Kernersville, NC on July 4, 2026.
Fairy was born on April 24, 1937, to the late J. Gualt and Cora Warren Keever in Alexander County. Fairy grew up as a member of Liberty United Methodist Church later converting to Catholicism and a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Fairy graduated from Hiddenite High School, class of 1955.
Fairy worked at Hubbard Farms for nearly 30 years, doing what her mother always told her not to do; counting her chickens before they hatched. She loved crafting, traveling, reading romance novels, dancing, gardening, hearing and telling a good joke, and spending time with family and friends. A devoted servant to her community, she generously gave her time through the Ladies Auxiliary of the Statesville VFW post 2031, assisted Ret. Col. Joe Stallings with the Iredell County Military Burial Honor Guard, served faithfully through her church, and volunteered with Hospice and Yokefellow. She was a member of ABWA and received multiple awards with them. She was also a proud supporter of the local Gold Star Mothers and cherished every opportunity to honor veterans and their families. One of her proudest accomplishments was being recognized as the Iredell County Hospice Volunteer of the Year, an honor that reflected her compassion, dedication, and selfless service to others. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need touched countless lives. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she so faithfully served.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Ret. Col. Joe Stallings, a son-in-law Mark Adamson, three brothers Loyd, Glen & Garland Keever, and three sisters Annie Peacock, Quillen Keever, and Cleeda Sloop. She was also preceded in death by step sons-in-law, Jan-Erik Otterstedt and Ralph Hagner, a number of nephews, a niece, and life-long friend, Nancy Sherrill. Fairy leaves to carry on her legacy two daughters Vickie Adamson of Raleigh and Stephanie and husband Ty Miller of Statesville, one grandchild Gabriel Adamson of Garner, Stepchildren: Joseph L Stallings (Karen); Valerie Otterstedt; Julie Kaeck (Mark); Lori Weston (Ed); Peter Stallings (Janet); Patricia Hagner; Richard Stallings (Julie); a number of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews. Along with Lanny Keever (Doris), whom she considered a brother. And many good friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Troutman Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Mike Robinson presiding. The cremains will be interred in the Columbarium at Oakwood Cemetery, Statesville, NC at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
Arrangements for Fairy Stallings are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
