Eunice Griffin Adams

June 9, 1928 - Aug. 22, 2014 Eunice Griffin Adams of Troutman passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2014 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Eunice was born on June 9, 1928, the daughter of the late Foster Alexander and Madeline Hensley Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Harlan Adams and brothers, James Lee Griffin and Jerome Dean Griffin. Mrs. Adams was educated in the Statesville City Schools and was a graduate of Carolina Business College. She worked in accounting and secretarial positions for over fifty years and was co-owner with her late husband of Adams Sporting Goods and Carolina Boat Lifts. She and Harlan loved to travel to boat dealer meetings and made fun trips all over the world with friends. She was a member of Troutman Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons, Chuck (Nan) Smith of Indian Beach and Terry (Crystal) Smith of Boca Grande, FL; and daughter, Pamela (Stanley) Childers of Statesville. She is further survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nathan Childers and daughter, Emmy Cate, of Atlanta, GA, Hillary (Matt) White and son, Myles, of Raleigh, Shawnna Smith of Cornelius, Brennen Smith of Houston, TX, Mandy (Gary) Ernst and twin daughters, Macy and Makayla, of Cornelius, Jennifer (Jon) Grinwis and children, Reece, Georgia, Lyla, and Grady of Greensboro, and Paige (Joe) Mays and children, Brandon Wohlever, Connor Hardee, Aviela, Ezekiel, and Eliana Mays of Greenville, SC. Mrs. Adams is also survived by her late husband's children, Teresa (Paul) Layman and daughter, Tina (Stephan) Leischner and their children, Zach and Payton, Kay (Gary) Moore and their son, Colby, and Terry (Sandra) Adams and son, Taylor. A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.in the fellowship hall of Troutman Baptist Church with the funeral service to immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Steve Kramm and Dr. Mark Harris officiating. The family will hold a private graveside service on Monday. Special thanks to Dr. Ruby Grimm and her staff, Hospice staff, and great caregivers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 and Troutman Baptist Church, 305 Perry Road, Troutman, NC 28166.
