Eugene Mason Garner

Eugene Mason Garner, 73, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House.

Eugene was born on January 5, 1951, in Halifax County, NC to the late Wilson Garner and Margaret Lassita Garner. Eugene attended and graduated school in Gaston County and was a member of Hillside Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW in Vance County. Eugene enjoyed caring for his lawn, gardening, DIY projects, college sports, and NASCAR.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve and Dennis Garner.

Those left to cherish the life and memory of Eugene are his wife of 39 years, Jeanette Bowes Garner; children, Ricky Garner, Zoe Cyan Pergerson, and Ebin Mason Pergerson; grandchildren, Justin Pergerson, Kevin Darce, Lisa Pergerson, Tina Pergerson, and Jermey Pergerson; his two great grandchildren; and siblings, Alton Garner and Linda Acree.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 11:00 am at Hillside Baptist Church, 115 Caldwell Farm Rd. Statesville, NC 28625. Rev. John Dixon will officiate and military honors will be accorded at 12:00 pm.
