July 18, 1926 - July 17, 2011
Erleen Mills Perkins, 84, of Mooresville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family following two years of declining health. She was born on July 18, 1926 in Iredell County to the late Charles William Mills, Sr. and Pearl Turman Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty six years, Harold Perkins; a sister, Stella Mills Hucks; and a brother, Charles William Mills, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Perkins Poole and husband, Donnie, of Mooresville and son, William Robin Perkins and wife, Telicia, of Maiden. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Joseph Poole, Jonathan Poole, Jordan Perkins and Alec Perkins; two great grandchildren, Alex Poole and Carson Poole; three sisters, Sue Mills Sherrill (Robert), Rachel Mills Powers (Jerry), and Aurealia Mills Lewis (Barry), all of Mooresville; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Mills of Concord; and a number of nieces and nephews. After graduating from Brawley High School and Clevenger Business College, she worked at Douglas Aircraft and retired from Duke Energy. Her loving heart, courageous spirit and zest for life has touched many lives and she will be sadly missed and forever loved. Erleen is and always will be deeply missed, but we rejoice in the fact that she is at peace now with God. The words of 2 Timothy 4:7 were never more appropriate than for Erleen: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." A memorial service will be held at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, Mooresville on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Pearl T. Mills Memorial Library Fund, Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, 1739 Perth Road, Mooresville, NC 28117. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Iredell County and our special angels, Vera, Laverne, Anita, Joann, Barbara and Patty as their care and concern over the past two years has been amazing.Visits: 0
