Elizabeth Smith Scott

May 29, 1940 - Sept. 3, 2015 Mrs. Elizabeth "Liz" Smith Scott, 75, of Statesville, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 3, 2015. She was born in Statesville to the late Catherine Hulse and James Edward Smith. Mrs. Scott never met a stranger. She had a wonderful family and many friends, all of whom she loved and cherished. She also had a passion for beautiful flowers and worked for Johnson Greenhouses as a floral arranger for many years. She is survived by her daughters, Marie (Walt) Eatman of Kissimee, FL and Catherine (Wade) Schweitzer of Norfolk, VA; son, Clifford Zepeda of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Adele Schlosser of Statesville, Mary Jane (Thomas) Bass of Troutman, Martha (Rod) Miller of Winter Haven, FL, and Josephine (Lee) Loughner of Boulder City, NV; grandchildren, Melissa and Norman Mactier and Josh Schweitzer; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Edward Smith, Jr. A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015 in Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Humane Society of Iredell County, 110 Robinson Road, Mooresville, NC 28117.
