Elizabeth "Lib" Oates

March 21, 1929 - Jan. 1, 2014 Mrs. Elizabeth "Lib" S. Oates, 84, of Mooresville, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. She was born in Long Island, NY, to the late Florine Farmer and Lonnie Ray Sides. She was a loving nurse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Jesse Edward Oates, Sr.; sons, Jesse Edward (Pam) Oates, Jr. of Irmo, SC and William Ray (Gwyn) Oates of Easley, SC; daughter, Deborah Leigh Oates of Indian Trail; sister, Frances (Bob) Prunty of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Jesse Ryan, Patrick Wilson, William Justin, Jordan Brown and Jillian Lynne Oates and Tara Beth Oates Vasquez; and eight great grandchildren, Jesse Ryan, Charles Lee, Oliver Henry, Eliot Thatcher, Silas David, Kristina Ashlynne Nichole, Kaelyn Reese and Jackson Brown Oates. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Lonnie Ray Sides. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Troutman First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Carr officiating.
