Elizabeth Sue Barkley Brown, 92, of Troutman, NC passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Born December 28,1933 to the late Thomas Pinkney Barkley and X. Era Barkley of Troutman, NC. In 1952 she married Leon Atwood Brown, Jr of Troutman, NC.
In addition to her parents, Sue is predeceased by her husband, Leon Atwood Brown, Jr. and her son-in-law, David Bayard Mitchell.
Sue is survived by her children, Denise Brown Rix (Rob) of Hershey, PA, Leon Atwood Brown III (Lisa) of Statesville, NC and Celia Brown Mitchell of Raleigh, NC.
Grandchildren: L.A. Brown IV (Amy) of Raleigh, N.C., Jordan Rix Fox (RJ) of Washington, DC, Anne Brown Teller (Josh) of Summerville, SC, Ashley Tyler Rix (fiancé Marc Burian) of New York, NY, Mykel Inscore Myers of Statesville; Great-Grandchildren: Atwood, Penelope and Fisher Brown of Raleigh, NC, Celia and Holwin Fox of Washington, DC., Lennon Teller of Summerville, SC, Cru and Echo Myers of Statesville.
Sue was a lifelong Member of New Perth A.R.P Church of Troutman, NC.
Sue had a special place in her heart for the Gordon Hospice House as a cherished volunteer providing refreshments for the families. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Hospice of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625
Visitation will be at New Perth A.R.P. Church in the parlor from 11:45 am until 12:45 pm on Saturday, March 14. A service of witness to the resurrection will follow in the sanctuary at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dan Hazen officiating, then a graveside service at New Perth Church cemetery.
Arrangements for Mrs. Brown are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
