Edward O. "Mickey" Winecoff

June 16, 1924 - Nov. 28, 2010

Mr. Edward O. "Mickey" Winecoff, Jr., 86, of Troutman, passed away at Gordon Hospice House on Sunday, November 28, 2010. Born on June 16, 1924, in Iredell County to the late E. O. Winecoff, Sr. and Lura Collins Winecoff, he retired from General Electric after 30 years of service. He was also a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserves, a volunteer fireman of 29 years for the Troutman Volunteer Fire Dept., a trustee for Iredell Memorial Hospital, and an avid golfer. He loved his family and particularly enjoyed spending time at the beach. Mickey was a loving husband of 61 years to Betty Moore Winecoff who preceded him in death in 2008. Mickey and Betty loved to play golf and socialize with their friends and family and were faithful members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman. Left to cherish their memories are one son, Edward Lee Winecoff (Lynn) of Shelby; two daughters, Beverly W. Hutchens (Steve) of Troutman and LuAnne W. Beaver of Statesville; seven grandchildren, Laurie (AJ) Klum, Craig (Misty) Hutchens, Michael (Heather) Winecoff, Brandon (Brandy) Winecoff, Kimberly (Chip) Dover, John (Bethani) Lail and Kristin Lail; ten great grandchildren, Jenna, Drew and Noah Klum, Grace, Emma and Ty Hutchens, Hunter, Kyndall and Rylee Winecoff and Conor Lail. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Troutman Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating the life of Mickey Winecoff will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman with the Rev. Matthew Miller and Vicar Diane Bowker officiating. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Park. The family will assemble at 310 West Ave. in Troutman. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, A. J. Klum, Craig Hutchens, Michael Winecoff, Brandon Winecoff, Chip Dover and John Lail.
