Dr. Jerry B. Wilson, 75, of Troutman, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 following a lengthy illness battling Parkinson’s disease.
He was born on April 28, 1939 to the late Paul Buford Wilson and Stella Harmon Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife, Clyde Wilson, of the home.
Jerry was a graduate of Statesville Senior High and continued his education by receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University and a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Duke University. He also attended Emory University where he received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theology and Ethics. He was Professor of Ethics and Theology for over 20 years at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL.
Jerry was a very caring and loving man and will be dearly missed by his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Crystal Wilson (Brett) Buchanan and two grandchildren, Haley and Bradley Buchanan, all of Statesville. His only sister, Margaret Wilson Armfield, resides in Clemmons, NC.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville. A visitation will immediately follow the service and everyone is invited to Adams Hall of First Baptist Church in Statesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to Parkinson's Research Foundation.
