Douglas "Doug" Eugene Dellinger

Douglas Eugene Dellinger, 70, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Gordon Hospice House.

Mr. Dellinger was born April 22, 1951, the son of Harold Eugene Dellinger and Georgia Benfield Dellinger, who preceded him in death.  Doug attended Iredell County schools, was a veteran of the US Army, and worked as a diesel mechanic and shop foreman for Benfield Sanitation.  He was married to Cindy Lackey Dellinger who survives.  Doug loved restoring old cars and enjoyed sharing this hobby with his friends at Apple City Street Rodders.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Dellinger is survived by his son, Douglas Andrew Dellinger (Elizabeth), his brothers, Randy Dellinger (Kathy), Ricky Dellinger (Doris), Eddie Dellinger (Ginger) and Sydney Dellinger, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 pm, Friday, April 29, 2022, Concord Presbyterian Church, with full military honors.  The family will visit with friends following the service.  The family has requested causal dress.  In Doug’s honor, please feel free to drive your hot rod, classic car or motorcycle.
