Doris Ellen Church

Doris Ellen Church, 73, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Gordon Hospice House.

Born in Iredell County on October 30, 1952, she was the daughter of the late William Frank Church and Martha Johnson Church.

In addition to her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by two nieces, Elizabeth Church and Karen Mayhew.

She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant and bus driver with the Davie County Schools System. Doris always loved helping others, serving as a caregiver and nanny for many families over the years.

As a former member of Mt. Sinani Evangelical Methodist Church, Doris loved to play the piano and sing. Later she moved her membership to Hebron Baptist Church, where she participated in different activities.

Doris enjoyed traveling to some of her favorite places including the NC / TN mountains and the beach and most recently enjoyed a cruise to Jamaica.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Edgar Allen Church (Maria), Ralph Bradley Church (Leslie), Donald Martin Church (Taryn), Mac Austin Church (Debbie) and Michael Forest Church.

She is further survived by her niece, Allison Cazire (Brandon Knox); nephew, Garrett Church (Dana) and great-nephews, Miles Cazire, Peyton Mayhew and Christian Linebaugh.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Hebron Baptist Church from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

The Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Darren Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
