Donna Gail Goodin Hoover

Donna Goodin Hoover was born August 2, 1960, to the late Johnnie Mack Goodin and Mary Sue Pope Goodin. She woke up in the arms of the Lord on June 30, 2025.

She is survived by her mother, Mary Sue Pope Goodin, her husband of 42 years, Rev. Newton Hoover, her daughters, Sallie Hughes (Jon), Elizabeth Brittain (Alan Reavis), and Madison Hoover; four grandchildren, Brooklyn Hughes, Journey Hughes, Malachi Brittain, & Caiden Reavis. She is further survived by her sister, Ginger Whalen (John). She graduated from North Iredell High School in 1978 and attended Mitchell Community College.

She was a state government retiree after 35 years of service from administration of courts in the Iredell County Clerk of Court’s Office. She was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, which is the highest award for state service granted by the Office of the Governor of North Carolina. Donna was raised in the Baptist faith. She and her husband served Faith Presbyterian for many years. She most recently was a loyal member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Committee and volunteered and attended every event possible. Donna could always be found spending her spare time with her beautiful daughters, grandchildren, and the love of her life, Rev. Newton Hoover. She was a faithful person always opening her arms and home to anybody that knew her with a Christ like love and no judgement.

Visitation and Funeral service will be held on July 3, 2025, beginning at 10 a.m. with visitation and the service starting at 11 a.m. at Westwood Baptist Church, Statesville, NC. Rev. Mike Hyde and Rev. William Ketchie will be officiants. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church cemetery, Statesville NC.
