Donald Hockenberry

April 28, 1942 - June 26, 2017 Donald David Hockenberry, 75, of Troutman, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1942 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Alton and Myrtle Hockenberry. Don was a passionate follower of Christ. His main desire and goal in life was to help others find salvation. He selflessly volunteered for many years at He Set Me Free Prison Ministry. Don was a United States Navy Veteran, having served for six years. He also enjoyed mechanic work and gardening. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Hager Hockenberry in 2013. He is survived by his sons, David (Lisa) Hockenberry of Stony Point, and Kevin (Jane) Hockenberry of Catawba; brother, Forest Hockenberry of Kannapolis, three grandchildren, Drew Hockenberry, Dara St. John (James Mundy) and Cody Hockenberry, and one great-grandaughter, Jensyn Madison Mundy. He will be missed by all. The family will receive friends at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Pastor Curtis White officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 494 Lippard Farm Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Troutman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Donald Hockenberry.
