Donald Webster Galliher Sr, age 93, of Lake Norman, passed away peacefully, June 4,2024, at his home. Mr. Galliher was born March 4, 1931, to the late Arthur Furches Galliher and Clara Agnes Brown Galliher in Mooresville. He was a 1950 graduate of Troutman High School. Donald served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean and China Service on the USS Antietam as a Naval GM2 from January 1951 to November 1954. On November 19, 1955, he married the late Doris Jean Cook Galliher.
Donald retired from Interstate Equipment Company of Statesville after forty-two years as Parts Manager. After retirement he worked at Interstate Bolt in Statesville for eight years. He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Troutman where he served as usher and in various committees.
In addition to his parents and loving wife of 61 years, Donald was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Galliher Rimmer.
Those who are left to treasure Donald’s memory are his children, Donald W. Galliher, Jr. of Kernersville and Kathy G. Swanson (Rocky) of Lake Norman; granddaughters, Brittany M. Swanson (Jerry Benfield) of Statesville and Megan S. Heilemann (Matthew) of Mooresville; and great grandchildren, Blaine M. Swanson, Avery J. McGrath and Crew W. Heilemann. His family remembers him as a kind and gentle loving father/grandfather who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
The family wants to give special thanks to Alicia Malatesta and Lyn Gardner, who cared for Donald with the utmost dignity, respect and kindness. To Hospice Care of Iredell County for their comfort and wonderful care during his last months. Our family will be forever grateful for them.
A memorial service at the church columbarium with full military honors will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Troutman. The service will be led by Pastor Dieter Punt.
