Don Mills

Don Russell Mills, 81, of Statesville, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

Don was born August 21, 1942, in Iredell County. He was the son of the late Homer and Hazel Elizabeth Hoover Mills. In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Mills Barker and brother, Ted Mills.

Don was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, attended Troutman High School and was a veteran of the US Army National Guard.  He retired as a supervisor with Blanton and Moore. He was a skilled furniture maker at work and home. He enjoyed drag racing in his younger years and his hobbies included raising cows, hunting, fishing, gardening, being outdoors, and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nancy, children, Angie Fox (Carey), and Brent Mills (Michelle); five grandchildren, Logan Elizabeth Webb, Sydney Grace Webb, Connor Scott Webb, Madeline Carys Mills, Brayden Alexander Mills, his aunt, Pauline Mills, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

No services are planned at this time per Don’s wishes.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all of the Gordon Hospice House physicians, nurses and staff for their kindness and compassionate care.
