Dean Murdock

September 28, 2015 — October 11, 2015

Mrs. Dean Rankin Murdock, 80, of Troutman, passed away at Gordon Hospice House on Sunday, October 11, 2015. She was born in Iredell County to the late Mildred Hartline and Charles R. Rankin. She was a graduate of Troutman High School and just recently attended her 60 year class reunion. Dean spent many hours serving others as a volunteer. In 1985, she started volunteering with Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County. She served 28 years with them and was recognized for her service in 2012 as Volunteer of the Year through Salute to Senior Service. She also spent many hours serving at New Perth ARP Church in Troutman. It was bittersweet as she was warmly welcomed to the Gordon Hospice House on September 28th to spend her final days being served in the way that she so faithfully served others. She is survived by her daughters, Jill Murdock England and Jana Murdock Callahan; sister, Peggy Templeton; and grandchildren, Kara England Hinkle, Meredith and Ben England, and Hayden and Cole Callahan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Carroll Murdock, and her brother, Allen Rankin. A memorial service honoring the life of Dean Murdock will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at New Perth ARP Church in Troutman with the Rev. Ben Hazen officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Interment will be at a later date in the New Perth ARP Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of the Gordon Hospice House for the tender and loving care extended to one of their own. Also, we would like to thank Dr. Amrish Patel, Dr. Andrew Braunstein, Dr. Sanjay Iyer and their staff for all the services you provide to patients who fight the daily battle with Parkinson's disease. The family would also like to thank the group of women who provided care to Dean in her home: Carla, Brandi, Katy, Kathy and Patti, fondly referred to as "The Dean Team." You not only made it possible for her to continue living at home, you made it a life worth living as you brought your individual personalities to the team. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
