David Mark Pelto, 64, of Statesville, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015.
He was born on December 26, 1950 in Sayre, PA to the late Edward R. Pelto, Jr. and Frances Hough Pelto Pietila.
He was a graduate of Spencer-Van Etten High School in Van Etten, NY. He served honorably in the US Navy for 4 years, worked as a truck driver hauling cars for NASCAR race teams, and later worked in security at The Pines in Davidson. His love of cars led him to restore classic cars and build streetrods.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lois Barton Pelto of Statesville; son, Mark Pelto of Troutman; daughter, Alison Sigmon (Eric) of Conover; sisters, Georgia Bunce (Steve) and Ellen Ritzler (Harry) of Spencer, NY; brothers, Edwin Pelto of Port Richey, FL. and Martin Pelto (Charlotte) of Springfield, TN; and four grandchildren, Cody, Taylor, Breanna, and Eric "E.J." Sigmon, Jr.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 25th from 1-2:00 p.m. at New Perth ARP Church in Troutman. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dan Hazen officiating.
