David Carl Laney

David Carl Laney, 63, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.

David was born June 12, 1962, in Columbia, South Carolina, to the late David Milton Laney and Carol Ann Stepp Laney. He was a graduate of East Forsyth High School and Gardner Webb University. David was the owner of D’Laney’s Sports Bar and Grill in downtown Statesville, established in 2003.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his grandson, Edwin Rogers, and brothers-in-law, Joe McNeely and Ron McNeely.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Donna McNeely Laney; sons, Brian Rogers of Troutman, David Matthew Laney of Mooresville, and Dustin Laney of Statesville; grandsons, Conner Rogers and Jaxon Laney; granddaughter, Lily ”Peanut” Laney; sisters, Dawn Cady (Joey) and Debbie Phillips (Frankie); brother-in-law and business partner, Mike Guibault; sisters-in-law, Debbie Guibault, Stephanie McNeely and Earlene McNeely Mills; Nicole Rogers and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 9 at Troutman Funeral Home with Beau Mills officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Gordon Hospice House, the nurses at Iredell Memorial Hospital, and his friends and staff for their continued support of his family.
