Mr. David Eugene Bruce, 69 of Hickory, NC, passed away January 14, 2026, at Frye Hospital due to a lengthy illness.

Mr. Bruce was born May 31, 1956, to the late Eugene Bruce and Rosie Lambert Bruce. In addition, Mr. Bruce is proceeded in death by a sister, Janice Harmon, a brother Roger Bruce. Mr. Bruce is survived by his three children, daughter, Stacie Hedrick of Hickory, NC, daughter, Jennifer Bruce of China Grove, NC and son, Brian Bruce of Taylorsville, NC. Mr. Bruce is also survived by his brother, Danny Bruce and sister, Lori Whiteside, both of Statesville, NC, an uncle, Hoyt Bruce of Statesville, NC and special friend and former wife, Debra Milam of Hickory, NC. Mr. Bruce had two grandchildren, Brianna Birdsall (Brandon) of Taylorsville NC and Megan Hedrick of Hickory. Mr. Bruce had many cousins, nieces and nephews and he believed in family togetherness.

Mr. Bruce worked at Hersey Meters in Rowan County as a lead man/assistant supervisor for over 25 years before he retired. Mr. Bruce loved nature, enjoyed classic trucks, boating and being outdoors. He was a master fisherman and huntsman.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 23 at Fern Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Jesse Stroud officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

Arrangements for Mr. Bruce are in the care of Troutman Funeral Home.
