Dale Allen Coombes

Dale Allen Coombes, age 68, of Olin, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024. He was born on June 14, 1955, in Edgar County, Ill. He was the son of the late Kenneth Dale Coombes and Pauline “Polly” Gregory Coombes.

He was a 1973 graduate of Shiloh High School in Hume, Ill and also graduated from Ivy Technical College in Indianapolis, Ind with a degree in Auto Diesel Mechanics. He retired as a fire fighter with the Statesville Fire Dept. Dale enjoyed woodworking, farming, carpentry and especially loved his grandchildren.

Dale is survived by his mother, Pauline “Polly Gregory Coombes of Illinois; his children, Nicholas (Crystal Fox) Coombes, Autumn (Michael “Pete”) Mahaffey, and Drew, (Jennifer) Coombes; and his grandchildren, Lucas Coombes, Alyssa Coombes, and Aubrey Mahaffey. Also surviving are three sisters, Celesta (Charlie-deceased) Galey, Cheryl (Wallace – deceased) Harp, and Nancy Coombes; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will meet with friends on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Troutman Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Smith Chapel Church in Union Grove, NC on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service.
