Collier "Cash" Francis McCall

Collier “Cash” Francis McCall, 91, of Statesville, passed away Monday, August 17, 2026, at his residence, and he was reunited with his wife, Mary, on their 69th wedding anniversary.

Cash was born on April 30, 1935, in St. Petersburg, Florida, to the late Collier McCall and Elouise McMullin McCall. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a navigator and was a lifelong learner who maintained a keen interest in the world around him throughout his life.

Following his retirement as a Major from the United States Air Force in 1974, Cash and his family made their home in Statesville, where he purchased the Gunn Farm. There, he and his family enjoyed farm life, raising chickens and a variety of other farm animals. Never one to remain idle, Cash remained active in his community through his volunteer work with the American Red Cross. He also drove a school bus for Cool Spring Elementary School, served as president of Iredell Water and operated Mister Donut in Statesville.

Cash was a devoted member of New Salem United Methodist Church, where his faith was reflected through his faithful service and involvement. He sang in the church choir, participated in the United Methodist Men’s group, and willingly gave of his time to help prepare and serve Wednesday evening meals. His years of service to his country, his church, and his community reflected a life marked by dedication, dependability, and a willingness to serve others.

In addition to his parents, Cash was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Marshall McCall, and his brother, Thomas McCall.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Frank McCall ( Jackie), and Kevin McCall (Trina); daughter, Julia McCall Cable (Michael); daughter-in-love, Pam McCall; grandchildren, Laura Newquist (Noel), Andrew McCall (Heather), Daniel McCall (Theresa), Chris McCall (Summer), Alex McCall (Matt), Ashley McCall (Cadere), Tora Harmon (Jeffrey), Garion Holland and McKayla Cable; great-grandchildren, Scott, John and Jackie Newquist, Marshall and Ashton McCall, Brayden and Brileigh May, Jackson and Evelyn McCall, Bria Graham and Remington Harmon.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 22 at New Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Matthews and Rev. Jan Brittan officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the fellowship hall. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Salem United Methodist Church.
