At 5:59 p.m. on April 19, 2016, Clyde Alexander Robbins, formally of Troutman, walked through the gates into the Glorious presence of the Father.
He was born January 22, 1929.
Clyde was a remarkable son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a plant manager at Troutman Industries, a member of Troutman United Methodist Church and a volunteer in several community organizations including Red Cross, Lunchbox and Habitat for Humanity. Clyde was also a member of the first graduating class of Troutman High School.
He is survived by his life-long love and wife of 65 years, Ruth Combs Robbins; daughter, Debra Ellen Orders and husband, Eric; son, Wayne Robbins and wife, Elizabeth; sisters, Irene Rowe and Peggy Kelly and husband, Keith; and brother, John Michael Robbins and wife, Kay. He also left behind 7 grandchildren, Chad, Jeremy and Curtis Bright, Taylor, Emily and Rebecca Robbins and Steve Orders; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Elizabeth Robbins; sister, Faye Graham; and brother, Frank Robbins.
Clyde Robbins was a friend to many in the greater Troutman area and will be greatly missed. He loved working in his garden and was always willing to share what he grew with his neighbors and friends.
Mere words cannot express the loss we all feel at his passing nor can they express the joy we have in our hearts for having shared his life. We thank God for his spirit and the lessons he taught while he walked this earth. We are all so much richer for having known Clyde Robbins.
"He will be waiting to welcome the vast amount of friends and loved ones that he left behind."
Revelations 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
The family will receive friends Friday, April 22, 2016 from 6-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Troutman Funeral Home. At other times, the family will assemble at the home of Mick and Kay Robbins.
