Troutman

Clate Lester Mayberry, 87, of Troutman, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Clate, son of the late Fred Lester Mayberry and Cansie Johnson Mayberry, was born in Harmony, NC on March 30,1939. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Talbert Mayberry. He was a member of Troutman Baptist Church and was self-employed in home construction and renovation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford Mayberry and Frank Mayberry, along with two sisters, Mildred M. Bell and Ann Mayberry Benfield.

He is also survived by two daughters, Lisa M. Deal (Todd) and Lori M. Gant (Marty) and three granddaughters, Rylee Rankin McLean (Jason), Peyton MacDougall Cooper (Max), and Dylan MacDougall Salter (Noah).

Clate was a true outdoorsman — with a lifelong love for hunting, farming and caring for his animals. He always found joy in the simple things — being outdoors, a game of golf, tending to his chickens, and was always on the lookout for a good deal on silver and gold. But his greatest source of joy was his family. He loved his girls fiercely and was their protector and biggest supporter. His strong spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to his family will be deeply missed and cherished forever.
