Clara Welborn

Clara Veree Arrington Welborn, 94, of Statesville, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, at her residence.

Clara was born in Iredell County on March 18, 1930, to the late Morgan Thomas Arrington and Winnie Jane McHargue Arrington.

She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, and she loved cooking, gardening, flowers, Siamese kittens and yardwork.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Welborn, Sr., and brothers, Elmer Arrington (Irene), Tom Arrington (Rachel) and Harold Arrington (Annie).

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Eddie Welborn (Libby); daughters, Jane Eckman (John) and Kathy Welborn; grandchildren, Lesley Ketchie (Richard), Heather Thomas (Brian), Lisa Caudle (Rod), Kara Clouse (Chris), Jay Eckman, Clint Garris, Houston Garris (Anna); 9 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; 1 great-great-granddaughter (on the way); several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 7 at Fairview Baptist Church, with Dr. Scott Eanes and Rev. Paul Hill officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 349 Turnersburg Hwy, Statesville, NC 28625, or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A private burial service will be held at a later date.
