Charles Rodney Roberts, 70, of Troutman, passed away, Monday, January 18, 2021 peacefully at home.

Mr. Roberts was born June 20, 1950 in Pineville, WV and was the son of the late Joseph Franklin Roberts and Bertha Davis Paynter. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War serving two tours. He also was a Sergeant in the Army Reserves serving his country for 13 years. On May 26, 1972, he married Gail Lyon Roberts, who survives and together they were members of Austin Baptist Church. He also was a 32 nd degree Ancient, Free and Accepted Mason in the Troutman Lodge.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by two daughters, Angel Nicholson (Lynn) of Statesville, Michelle Grit (Tracy) of Boone; four grandchildren, Raven and Maggie Nicholson, Bishop and Hylend Grit and one chosen brother, Johnny Blankenship.

With great love and respect the family request a private graveside service to be held at Austin Baptist Church due to COVID 19. He was greatly loved by many and a celebration of life will occur when it is safe for us to gather together.
