April 24, 1942 - July 14, 2017 Charles Ronald Hobbs, 75, of Troutman, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. He was born on April 24, 1942 in Iredell County to the late Jesse Henry Guy Hobbs and Laura Mae Ramsey Hobbs. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 48 years, Reta Wingler Hobbs; son, Michael (Veronica) Hobbs; daughter, Jennifer Hobbs; sister, Joanne Davidson; brother, Larry (Valerie) Guy Hobbs; and two granddaughters, Haven and Hadley Hobbs. Charles worked for Troutman Industries as well as retired American Stainless, formally known as Romac Metals. Charles enjoyed reading and watching baseball games. He loved to visit his daughter, Jennifer, in the mountains, and also his son and his family in Salisbury. He simply adored his two granddaughters and loved spending time with them. The family will receive friends at Troutman 1st United Methodist Church on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m with Rev. Mike Carr and Rev. Jeff Hamrick officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Hobbs’ memory may be made to Troutman 1st UMC, PO Box 717, Troutman, NC 28166 or to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road Statesville, NC 28625. Troutman Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Charles Hobbs.
