Charles Coyte Hager

Charles Coyte Hager, Jr., 84, of Harmony, passed away on April 16, 2026, at Gordon Hospice House.

Charles was born on March 21, 1942, to the late Charles Coyte Hager, Sr. and Vina Greer Hager. He went to Cool Spring High School.

A man who appreciated life’s simple pleasures, Charles enjoyed fishing, watching football, gardening, and taking pride in his yard work. He also had a special love for his Pinto horse.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Nellie Mae Cape; son, Chuck Hager (Banyen); daughter, Laura Thompson (Charles); granddaughters, Christine Haymore (Johnny) and Samantha Barr; great-grandchildren, Rachel Morris, Steve Morris, Jr., Mary Haymore, Sabrina Jones, Patrick Barr, Bella Jones, and Miranda Holder.

Charles is further survived by his brothers, Jerry Hager and Roger Hager; his sister-in-law, Shirley Rochester (Gary Simmons); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Sigmon.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jim Boyte officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Troutman Funeral Home.

Flowers may be sent to Troutman Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
